Question

Measuring time to paint specific component

I would like to measure load times for a specific component. Similar to the '1st contentful paint'  or 'largest contentful paint', but I would like to measure the time it takes to paint one component in particular. Is that possible?
Thank you!

Hey @stephaniejensen! Thanks so much for reaching out- that’s a great question!

I noticed you’ve gotten help from our awesome Support team! I’m going to post their reply here as well so that anyone else with a similar question can find the answer. 😊

Currently, we do offer several page speed metrics (such as First Contentful Paint (FCP), Largest Contentful Paint, and others, detailed here) as you mentioned. But these are relative to quite specific elements that reflect the overall page load times - i.e. FCP is measuring how long it takes for the very first element to appear on the page, and LCP is measuring how long it takes the largest element to appear on the page.

In the meantime, I do want to mention that we do have a feature (currently exclusive to our Advanced and Enterprise plans) named Watched Elements. The reason I mention this, is because Watched Elements are a way to track elements that users 'see' but don't necessarily interact with. With these elements, there are additional filters that come into play such as Time Duration Visible and Time Duration Rendered, which are metrics that allow you to dig in further to how specific elements are rendering and viewed for your users.

Please let me know if you have any other questions as I would be more than happy to help!
